Community health Laboratory

Community Health Nursing (CHN) is the area of nursing in which students are prepared to meet the ever-changing challenges of the health of the society and the nation. Our lab is well equipped with articles for preparing nursing students to deliver health care to the people at their doorsteps in both urban and rural communities.

The first and foremost training imparted to the students is bag technique in which students are trained for assessments at home settings. These assessments include antenatal care, post-natal care, new born assessment, infant, toddler, preschoolers, adolescents, adults and elderly. Apart from bag techniques, students are taught for hemoglobin analysis using either Sahl’s Hemometer or Hemocheck. Random Blood Sugar Testing are conducted in home settings for people with diabetes mellitus. In addition to these facilities, the community health nursing laboratory also has delivery kit to use whenever there is requirement in the community.

The department has qualified faculty who are fully involved in training students in community health nursing and in promoting health and preventing illness.
